The Fire (wk. 2)
Your relationship with God is meant to GROW!
If you build a camp fire and just let it burn, it will eventually die out. Fire needs heat, fuel, and oxygen to burn, and fuel needs to continually be added to keep it burning. In a similar way, our relationship with God (and any human, too!) needs to be ‘fueled’ with things like hanging with other followers of Jesus, spending time with Him in His Word (the Bible) and prayer (talking and listening to God), talking with other about Him, obedience, etc. And, like with fire, there are things that can extinguish (put out) our relationship with God: unrepentance, sin, rebellion, neglecting time with Him, etc.
Here are the verses used in The Fire, as well as a fe additional ones:
2 Peter 1:5-9
2 Peter 3:18
2 Thessalonians 1:3
Ephesians 2:12,13 (this one shows how sin and disobedience separate us from God, therefore working as an ‘extinguisher’)
For all of these verses, it’s a good idea to read the whole chapter to get more context!
